Our Experiences Shape Our Financial Decisions

When people talk about finance, everyone seems to have an opinion about how someone should go about it, especially when discussing the kind of business or investment a person should pursue. We all have opinions, and those opinions are often based on our experiences in life.

The kind of experiences you have will determine what you believe is the right avenue to invest in or pursue. For instance, an educationist may see education as the best path to financial independence, especially by owning a school, managing it well, and developing it into an institution that meets international standards.

Someone in the banking sector will most likely have a different perspective, and their approach to wealth creation may also differ. They may believe in owning a financial business, creating a platform that offers loans to businesses and entrepreneurs, or investing in the stock market or the foreign exchange (forex) market.

Likewise, someone who has extensive knowledge of cryptocurrency will probably encourage others to invest in it and hold their investments for the long term, even during severe market downturns. Yesterday, for instance, I was discussing this with a friend, and we both shared our experiences. I explained why I would rather invest in cryptocurrencies, while she said she would never do so again because of her terrible experience. According to her, she had seen many people lose their fortunes through cryptocurrency investments.

I also shared why I would still invest in cryptocurrency because I have made money from it before. From my experience, it is worth investing in. However, the truth is that some cryptocurrency platforms and coins have collapsed completely, causing investors to lose huge amounts of money. The recent sharp decline in the cryptocurrency market also wiped out significant investments on a scale that had not been seen for a long time.

No matter what the situation is, our experiences shape the way we think and the decisions we make. For example, someone may decide never to drive again after being involved in a serious accident. That does not mean cars are inherently bad. It simply means that personal experiences often influence the choices we make.
