[Eng/Esp] Vedado: Modernity, History, and Elegance in Havana 🇨🇺✨

I am a doctor and I work at a hospital located in the Vedado neighborhood in Havana. I hope you’ve had the opportunity to visit this area and Cuba in general.

Hola amigos de la Comunidad #wednesday walk.
Soy médico, trabajo en un hospital ubicado en el barrio El Vedado, La Habana, Cuba. Espero que hayas tenido la oportunidad de conocer este vecindario y de forma general Cuba.

Today, after finishing my workday, I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood and capture some photos of the buildings that caught my attention the most because of their vintage style. 📸
I have always liked this particular area of my city because of its urban design, elegance, variety of colors, as well as its diverse gastronomic and recreational options.

Hoy, después de terminar mi jornada de trabajo decidí caminar por la zona y tomar algunas fotografías sobre las edificaciones que más me llamaron la atención por su estilo antiguo.📸
Siempre me ha gustado esta zona en particular de mi ciudad, debido a su estilo urbanístico, elegancia, variedad de colores además de las diferentes ofertas gastronómicas y recreativas.

Its wide avenues, green areas, and buildings reflect Havana’s urban growth during the 20th century.

Sus amplias avenidas, áreas verdes y edificaciones reflejan el crecimiento urbano de La Habana durante el siglo XX.

Vedado is also known for its old houses, many with gardens and wide porches, designed to adapt to the tropical climate. 🌴 These homes convey a sense of calm and elegance that contrasts with the busier parts of the city.

El Vedado también se caracteriza por sus casas antiguas, muchas con jardines y portales amplios, diseñadas para adaptarse al clima tropical. 🌴 Estas viviendas transmiten una sensación de tranquilidad y elegancia que contrasta con el bullicio de otras zonas de la ciudad.

However, like many areas in Havana, the passage of time is visible. Some buildings show signs of wear, but this does not take away their essence or beauty. 💭

Sin embargo, como en muchas partes de La Habana, también se perciben los efectos del tiempo. Algunas edificaciones muestran desgaste, pero eso no les quita su esencia ni su belleza. 💭

This walk through Vedado made me appreciate how architecture can tell the story of a constantly evolving city.

Este paseo por el Vedado me hizo apreciar cómo la arquitectura puede contar la historia de una ciudad en constante transformación.
