Summertime Sunflower Splendor
What a gorgeous view this morning at Columbia Bottoms Conservation Area. I never knew this was so close to my home!
Located in North St. Louis County at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.
The Conservation Department plants multiple areas with these beauties as a food source for the local birds, in particular mourning doves. However, it is becoming a popular photo op location.
Bustling with many types of bees.
The flowers only last about ten days. Therefore they have staggered their seed planting to afford these breathtaking vistas through mid August.
All photos taken by me with my iPhone.
