About Me

My name is Macharia Waruingi,

I am a medical doctor, who is also interested in social systems and organization science. I am presently working on an exciting project on global health known as Ubrica Project. The goal of the project is to use blockchain technology to create conditions for universal access to health in the world. We have created a cryptocurrency known as Ubricoin facilitate availability of good quality health even to traditionally marginalized people in the world (see http://ubricoin.ubrica.com).

I am really excited to be here to interact and exchange ideas with people who are interested in blockchain technology and its application to solve big social, and systemic problems bothering million of people in the world today.

I am the Chairman of Ustawi Biomedical Research Innovation and Industrial Centers of Africa [UBRICA] (http://ubrica.com). I also serve in the following committees at the Kenya Medical Association:

• Convener: Membership Committee, Nairobi Division, Kenya Medical Association [KMA]
• Convener: Media Outreach Committee, Nairobi Division, Kenya Medical Association [KMA]
• Convener: Medical Camps Committee, Nairobi Division, Kenya Medical Association [KMA]

I believe that everyone in the world has a right to health. I believe that blockchain technology gives us the tools to give access to health to everyone in the world.

At Ubrica, we like to grow food for ourselves. We have all kinds of nice vegetables, fruits and herbs growing on our garden. Water is a huge problem in Africa. Lack of water is detrimental to health. We hope to find a solution to water shortage as a part of improving quality of health.
