Not Having Someone on Your Special Day

It was my bff's birthday last week. She wanted me to be there but she lives far from me. She's working as a DJ for quite some time. Her parents are staying in their hometown. She recently broke up with her guy and is still in the middle of picking her self back together. I honestly want to be there for her. I know how it feels to try to be happy on your day but you feel like you're alone with no one to spend a supposed-to-be perfect day.

I asked her what she planned to do all along and she told me a video call would do so right before the clock struck 12, I called her. She looked sleepy as to she just got off from work yet she felt glad when I called. She was so glad that tears fell to her cheek when I told her I might be away but I will never leave her in times of need.
