Mulitple USAF Thunderbirds seen buzzing the Southeast side of Ypsilanti, MI this afternoon

They performed multiple passes across the area, shutting down the frequent commercial air travel for at least 10-15 minutes. Passes were performed at various, but not overpowering speeds, and were done in groups as well as individually.

It's incredible how quickly and quietly small military jets can sneak up on you, even at subsonic speeds. Then a god-like flurry of crackling jet engine fills your ears and squints your eyes. Each jet engine producing several thousand pounds of thrust, and the polished silvery-white paint job makes them all but invisible on a sunny day like today.

When they are coming directly toward you, staggered and at a decent speed, your fine hairs begin to stand. I was thankful those planes were not coming at me with deadly intent.
