Witness Update: Ready for HF28
I've just upgraded one of my witness nodes to v1.28.3, which means I'm now ready for HF28. The other one will stay on v1.27, just in case we need to switch back.
I have to say, I'm really impressed by the work @blocktrades and his team have been doing.
Hived — the software powering our blockchain — has been quite efficient for a long time, even back in the Steem days. So I honestly didn’t expect there to be so much room left for optimization.
Not only has the replay time (the time it takes to replay the entire blockchain) been significantly reduced, but the RAM requirements for running a node have also dropped drastically. We're getting to a point where, technically, Hive could be run on a smartphone in the future.
Of course, there have been many other improvements over the years since Hive’s inception, but these two alone are reason enough to celebrate — even if our price is currently down.
That said, I’m really looking forward to the HF!
