External eyes to see our growth.

We are so used to ourselves that most of our physical changes go right under our noses. We can't see our own growth. It's almost like we are always the same. That's why when we find out that our clothes are now too small, it now dawns on us that we are getting bigger, taller, fatter, etc.

The same thing can be said about our characters or behavior. To us there is nothing wrong with our innate behavior. It's only when we enter some environments or relate with some people that we now realize a few things seem off. Some things don't agree, be it mindset, belief, religion, use of resources, etc.

This makes self inspection dangerous if we don't know how to check ourselves with a standard pattern and to know exactly what and how to add or remove some characteristics. Introspection is key at these moments, your ability to look inward and to determine what you want for yourself and what you don't want. And then the discipline to do those things.

You won't agree that you are now bigger or better looking until you look at a throwback of yourself and then you are wowed. Then for a few moments you are filled with melancholy at how different you look now and how much time has taken its effect. You wouldn't be sure your kindness or selfless work is of any use until people tell you how much you inspire them, how much your input at a long time past had shaped their life one way or the other.

Surround yourself with people that help you see your progress. People that are not bothered in the slightest about your growth. People that can help you be introspective, people that can provide an example of the standards you want to copy.

Absorb your changes, be a better you everyday.
