euer Hopfen liebender Panda nimmt heute erstmals am Beersaturday teil. Ich bin also in den Laden gestapft und habe mir etwas ausgesucht was ich vorher noch nie getrunken habe und das mich von der Aufmachung her anspricht. Meine Wahl fiel also auf das Kloster Gold Hell, ein helles Vollbier. Und ich habe es nicht bereut.

Im Vergleich zu anderen hellen Bieren, die ich kenne, ist dieses nicht so übertrieben süßlich. Es schmeckt viel vollmundiger und reifer, als hätten ein normales Helles und ein Pils ein Kind bekommen. Laut Flasche wird es seit 1119 gebraut. Man kann also nicht vom finsteren Mittelalter sprechen wenn die schon damals so gutes Helles hatten. Nur die Kühlschränke fehlten halt.

your hop loving panda is participating in BeerSaturday for the first time today. So, I walked into the store and picked out something I'd never had before and whose presentation appealed to me. My choice fell on Kloster Gold Hell, a light, full-bodied beer. And I haven't regretted it.

Compared to other pale ales I've known, this one isn't overly sweet. It tastes much more full-bodied and mature, as if a regular pale lager and a pilsner had a baby. According to the bottle, it's been brewed since 1119. So you can't really call it the Dark Ages if they had such good pale lager back then. They just didn't have refrigerators.
