When the World Ended

I sometimes dream about the end of the world. Not by wars or disease, nothing that slow. But by an outside force, like an asteroid or some catastrophic event that would end our world in a matter of days, if not instantly.

In these dreams I know that everything we are familiar with will no longer exist. But a part of me is hopeful. Because along with the good, all the bad would also disappear.

What do you think would happen if an advanced society survived an apocalyptic event and had to start over on an earth left with no signs of civilization?

Would we make the same mistakes?
