TIME IS WHAT WE NEED THE MOST

MID-WEEK WAKE-UP CALL🗣🎙
James 4:13-17 / Mark 9:38-40

Time ⏰ is what we want most. Yet, time is also what we waste most. The irony is that the more time we have, the more time we will waste🙄. By and large, we think that we have a long future 👉ahead of us. We think that there will always be a tomorrow. And that is not a certainty, because that is narrow mindedness. James in the 1st reading 📖 calls this wicked pride because it is like a tunnel-vision of life, and God does not seem to be included in those plans.🤔.

One of the greatest quote I ever knew was that of Macbeth in William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.” Fr. Flately made sure it stuck in our heads:

Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.📚

James have words for us today about tomorrow. And he says You never know what will happen tomorrow.📖 He speaks to those who sit down to make great business plans and come up with large profits 💰💴. He reminds us how fragile life is☹. We see it happen every day – young lives, full of promises, wiped out in seconds😣.

He gave us a wise suggestion instead of our display of arrogance and pride: “If the Lord wills it, we shall live to do this or that.”📖 James is not telling us that planning is bad. Not to make plans in life is a disaster and being irresponsible. Our plans, however, must be situated in 👉God. God is to be found not in the past or future, but in the present - realities and not day dreams. God is in the - NOW❗

We do not have to wa
it so late like Macbeth to see the realities of life. He thought 💭 he owned time and until the wife died, things he built started falling apart, and the armies were matching against him❗👌🏼

We pray that we will be able to see God in little things and give Him glory for everything. Amen.🙏🏻
