The Cat That Returned Wearing a Crown.

The cat had been missing for weeks but tonight it returned wearing a crown, Timi had stopped calling its name every morning because it only brought back memories of that evening she left the door open by mistake, her best friend Zainab kept saying, “Maybe someone picked it up.” But deep down, Timi feared the worst then, one quiet night, while she sat on the veranda lost in her thoughts, she heard a soft meow. It was faint but familiar then she froze and another meow followed but this time, it's closer.

Timi jumped up with heart racing and there it was, her cat, Snowball, standing proudly at the gate but something was different, on its head sat a tiny crown not made of gold but of woven dry grass and shiny beads, glinting under the moolight.

For a moment, she didn’t move because it was like a scene out of a dream, the cat’s fur was cleaner than she remembered and it looked majestic. It walked straight toward her, tail high, like it knew it had become something special.

Snowball? she whispered, kneeling as tears filled her eyes, the cat rubbed against her leg, purring softly as if to say, I am home.

Zainab came running from inside, gasping at the sight, “Wait is that a crown on its head?” she exclaimed.

Timi laughed through her tears and said It looks like someone made it for him.

They both sat there staring, wondering who could have found a lost cat and treated it like royalty maybe a kind child, maybe a lonely neighbor, maybe something else they couldn’t explain, so many maybe's run through their mind but all Timi knew was that her cat didn’t just return but it also came back different, bold and somehow whole.

That night, Snowball slept at her feet, crown still perfectly placed and though she never found out where he would been, she couldn’t help but feel the message behind it:

Sometimes, what we lose doesn’t just come back, it returns crowned with lessons, love and mystery.
