The surface layer of soil quickly gives up soil moisture to groundwater and plants get thirsty. During the period of active sap flow and growth, moisture is especially important.
Approximately. On light soils and medium loams: for trees 20 l x 2 times a week; for shrubs 10 l x 2 times a week. If the soil has thawed slightly, pits are made and water is poured to the root system 60 cm from the trunk.
