Yet another HiveFest 10 post

It is the time of the year again. This is my second time seeing all of you in-person at HiveFest. The biggest difference between this HiveFest and the previous and all future ones is that there is no long travel time and no accommodation booking.

Day 0

Met up with vaultecHive account@vaultec and milo-hprHive account@milo-hpr at the KL Journal Hotel first thing in the morning to catch up on VSC, along with a few others who also arrived early.

I then met up with sagarkothari88Hive account@sagarkothari88 at his hotel to discuss presentation matters. Concluded the pre-event day at Pavillion with louis88Hive account@louis88, demotrukHive account@demotruk and rivalzzzHive account@rivalzzz while they were shopping there.

Day 1 - Opening drinks

Yet another day filled with selfies at the rooftop bar of the KL Journal Hotel.

Way more items (and non-presonalized ads) this time. The bag(s) feel more durable than last years.

Day 2

2025-10-16-15-01-30-211.jpg

First day of the actual conference held in REXKL, specifically in the REXPERIENCE hall. I presented some of the latest updates on aiohaHive account@aioha on stage.

Some thoughts

While the presentations were great, the venue itself is below expectations due to inadequate ventilation in the main hall and all 3 toilets in the building look poorly maintained. Not recommended for full-day events.

Dinner at Da Bao

No food photos because I will not repost them.

Same event, different name.

The ChainCulture day at Glasshouse in contrast, is a much better venue. The moment you enter the place, you will see all the quotes in every corner, in no particular order:

  • Humans were the first smart contracts.
  • Somewhere, a wallet is still waiting for purpose.
  • Decentralize your ego before your wallet.
  • To coordinate is human. To vibe is divine.
  • Be your own oracle. But listen twice.
  • Your attention is liquidity.
  • If culture forks faster than code, which one runs the world?
  • You're not early. You're exactly on block time.
  • Touch grass. Then tokenize it.
  • The network remembers what the mind forgets.
  • Proof of Work? Try Proof of Kindness.
  • If you found this sign, you're already inside the protocol.
  • Your vibe just got verified.
  • Decentralization is just another word for together.
  • This message is stored on-chain. Somewhere.

There might be more that I did not notice. I also dropped by at the workshop by thebeedevs, more on that in my next post.

What I learnt

I spoke to the KDX team at their booth regarding a potential listing of HIVE/HBD on their exchange (or any other MYR exchange). Some requirements are:

  • Rubber stamp of approval from SC (SEC equivalent) to list the coin/token
  • Multi-year established history (we have this)
  • Multi-billion $ marketcap
  • Syariah compliant (grey area here)

That leaves volume and liquidity requirements at the discretion of the exchange.

They failed to provide an answer on the application process, whether I need to consult SC separately first before working with the exchange, or something else. There are also no stablecoins approved for trading at any MYR exchange, the stated reason was they want everything quoted in MYR and not another fiat currency. Not even an MYR stablecoin. The real reason to me is to protect the banks so they can still get away with overcharging customers to move money. Therefore HBD listing is a no go.

Also note that social media licensing requirements do not apply until we have >8 million users in the country.

Day 4

Depression sets in on this day as we are heading towards the end of the event 😢

Day 5

Closing dinner at Bijan restaurant. Was happy to be seated next to crimsoncladHive account@crimsonclad and milo-hprHive account@milo-hpr.

Final thoughts

There is not much to say here. I completed what I wanted to do at this HiveFest successfully. Being a top 30 witness helped a lot to get more attendees to have conversations with me.
