Saturday - A walk in the historic district
Today, I will share a few shots from a walk I took the other day around the historic district here in New Bedford, MA.
On another social media site, I have been sharing some photos I share in posts, and it's been great. I have learnt so much about the history of some of the buildings here, along with people's memories of the places. It's been so interesting
Starting with the McCullough Building
Located in the Waterfront Historic District at 98 Front Street, this beautifully restored 19th-century landmark dates back to 1820. Previously a ship chandlery, it now features a mix of high-end commercial office space, a first-floor retail shop, and a residential duplex loft with harbor views

Next up, although the building it is in may be historic, but this is a place that only just opened last year, and I just came across it on a recent walk, reviews of it seem to be good maybe I will try it out sometime

That morning, I went up in the Elm Street Parking garage to get this view, I had hoped by the time i got up here some of the sunrise colors would still be out, but some days they can come and go so quickly.

this next building was constructed in 1890, the building is at 385 Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford, MA is a prominent mixed-use property situated in the heart of Downtown New Bedford. Located within the New Bedford Historic District / National Park, this 7,125-square-foot brick building features a combination of residential condos and commercial spaces

NOw this next one I added as when I talked about learning some interesting facts about the city, the rose alleys were mentioned to me.
Back in the whaling days, the smell from the port was very strong, so across from the port, along a few alleys like the one in this next photo, were lined with rose bushes to counteract the smell, and naturally were called by many the Rose Alleys.
So now I know the origin of this pubs name
