Monochrome Monday - here and there

Good Morning. I hope your weekend went well. Starting the week as I tend to do with a few Monochrome edits.

First off, a place I had not been to until recently: the Grinnell Mansion here in New Bedford,
I had driven by it many times, but surrounded by trees, I had not noticed it.

It is located at 379 County Street in New Bedford and is a Greek Revival granite landmark built in 1831 for U.S. Congressman Joseph Grinnell.

Built in 1831 by noted architect Russell Warren for merchant and politician Joseph Grinnell.
The outer granite sheathing was cut from the exact same Quincy quarry that supplied Boston's Bunker Hill Monument.

And it hosted former U.S. President John Quincy Adams during a visit in September 1843

It truly is a grand building, and I only found out about it when someone on Facebook asked me to swing by it and get photos.

Next up is this little lane I walked down to get to the Mansion; the cobblestones made me stop and get this photo

And some of the details on St. John the Baptist Church here in New Bedford, such a grand structure with amazing craftsmanship, but sadly it's been closed for over a decade now. With dwindling numbers attending church services, the church closed this one, and sadly it is just sitting there, probably decaying away.

And this is looking down, or perhaps up; I'm not sure. Mechanics lane here in New Bedford, which again I only just recently discovered thanks to someone on Facebook again suggesting I visit there.
I also was just told about a similar street in Mattapoisett, which I must swing by nd check out sometime.

I'm enjoying seeing these historic buildings, but with the sunrise getting later, I may need to adjust my time for walks, as going out early is good for catching sunrises, but not so good for getting good shots of historic buildings. I may some days, skip going out for sunrise and instead head out at around 6:30 AM and visit some more historic areas.
