Dance Monkeys

There was an outdoor salsa evening in the middle of the city and we decided to go. We normally go once a year to these kinds of things and it is a reminder of two things; I enjoy dancing and I am not very good at it. However, it was still fun dancing a little and seeing some dance friends for the yearly catchup. The best fun though was that I convinced Smallsteps to come with us, because she wasn't very keen to and since she can stay home by herself now, she would have rathered that.

Yet, once there and after she and I went to get some water (and an ice cream for her), I spent several songs dancing with her, teaching her salsa to the point she could change sides and do a basic spin, and she was ecstatic. She has never tried to dance salsa before, but I have tought her the basic steps and a couple turns for bachata, and she is pretty good at it.

And while I can't dance, my wife is ever-popular at dance events because she can dance well and well, all the men are keen to ask her. It isn't just because she can dance - though she plays dumb and pretends she doesn't know why. I always find it silly when women do that, but I guess they have enough experience with insecure and jealous men that they have learned to be wary. I am glad she gets checked out, because I check her out too.

It was a good night (though I didn't get an ice cream) and as there is an event again tomorrow night in the city that doesn't run late and Smallsteps might come, we could go again and enjoy a little bit of the summer and maybe if my wife will drive, I could have a glass of red wine. There is an Italian festival in the city and who doesn't like a chianti in the summer?

Time for bed....
