FEAR

The sense of panic turned my movements to childlike jerky motions. As if every action took a special instruction from my brain.

Four weeks ago the order to "Shelter in Place" had been given. I was alone, only 2 other people knew my location. They had run to another city, right before the 2nd break out of the virus. I'd had no contact with them in three weeks.

Ironically, I had wanted privacy, privacy is different than terrifying isolation. I wanted my movements to go unnoticed, instead... the ever watching drones, the temperature talking National Guard and being locked down in a place I could not escape.

I held the cup carefully with my trembling hands and stared out the window, wondering how long my supplies would last.

I saw the black Jeep coming up the driveway, and I knew I wouldn't have time to fear the virus.
