YAF - Konkurs
The beginning of my artistic path was a decision to reject academic education. At the age of 18, I left art school and began to paint. I spent six years creating abstractions, giving the viewer the difficult task of assigning meaning to the work—yet we puzzled over it together. At that time, I was searching for meaning. The paintings were full of fluid shapes; nothing was obvious, and the storm of colors drew the eye. The beginnings of adulthood. The process itself was my inspiration, and the motivation was to reach the end—to discover something, to become something/someone. One could go on like that endlessly, but I realized that I am not a self-sufficient machine, and even confusion mutates over time.
For the past two years, I have been creating paintings that depict symbols. I am fascinated by how strongly the things that surround a person influence their life—how one desires to pour their identity into objects, to present themselves to themselves.
