Greenhouse Update - Plants are Growing Fast - by Sunscape

Even with the colder nighttime temperatures, the plants in the greenhouse are doing pretty well, considering. I only keep the heaters high enough to keep it around 50°F.

The plants in the floats have grown a bit, and the lettuce is bolting, lol. So this morning I picked the lettuce and will replace it with some Arugula seedlings.

Here are all the plants on the left and right sides of the greenhouse.

The onions and the lettuce in the soil are ready to be planted, but I have to wait until I see the doctor on Tuesday. He has to release me to do gardening after my eyelid surgery.

If it stops raining today, I'm going to have my hubby plant out the cold crops into the large raised bed. They need to be planted as they have slowed down and should have grown more than they have since transplanting them into the 4" pots.

I mentioned in an earlier post that the potatoes that I had in the pantry had begun chitting back in March. So, I planted them into these grow bags and put them into totes. They are loving being in the greenhouse and are way ahead of schedule. I will be taking them outside and putting them in a shady area to get acclimated to the outdoors.

Also, I think it is time to move the spinach tower garden out. Then I will have room to start some other seedlings in another one.

All the onions should already be in the ground, but due to the surgery, I am not able to bend over. Hopefully, next week I can get them planted in the raised beds, too.

I have more spinach seedlings and escarol that could go outside. I still haven't figured out where to plant them. I never plan ahead where anything will go, but I should take inspiration from @goldenoakfarm with her extensive garden planning. She is a master at it!

The Impatien plants are all growing at different rates. It's probably due to the lack of heat and sunlight with this crazy weather. The other annuals are doing the same, growing very slowly this season.

The sweet peppers and all the tomatoes are right on schedule with their size. Usually, I have them too big by the time I plant them out. Often I have to pinch flowers off the pepper plants, but not this year since starting them later.

The nasturtiums I planted last week are popping up, and the petunia and lobelia baskets are doing fine. This morning, I pinched the petunias back so they would start branching.

I spotted this clump of speckled violets taking over the corner of the butterfly garden. They are crowding out the Black Eyed Susan plants and will have to be pulled as soon as I'm able.

The Epemidium is in flower, and I just adore the foliage on this plant. The rubrum coloring with the lime, and heart-shaped leaves give it so much character.
