It would appear that today is #seventiessunday so let's take a look, and listen, to one of Led Zeppelin's best songs.

The song I'm talking about, "Achilles Last Stand", clocks in at 10 minutes & 25 seconds. It's from the band's 7th studio album, Presence and was released in 1976.

Take a listen, if you dare ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿค˜

"Achilles Last Stand", was first recorded on 12 November, when the basic backing track was laid down. Jones played an Alembic 8 string bass on the track, giving it a distinctive tone. This was the first time John Paul Jones played the 8-string bass with a pick. He said that it added more mid-range presence during Page's high-register guitar solos.

What an awesome instrument!

Robert Plant wrote the lyrics based on travelling across Africa in mid-1975 with Page. The title, "Achilles Last Stand", is an ironic reference to Plant's August 1975 automobile accident, in which he severely injured his ankle, as Achilles was brought down by an arrow to his calcaneal tendon. Plant was unable to walk for a year after the accident, and recorded much of Presence in a wheelchair.

Jimmy Page added six guitars in a one night, marathon overdubbing session at the end of the recording period.

I really got into this song about 12 years ago when I bought an old beater drum kit to mess around on. I tried to teach myself this song so I listened to it quite a bit xD

Have a rockin' Sunday!!
