LBRY Beta Review

For some time now ive tried to look into YouTube alternatives because of the sheer fact that its no longer very friendly platform due to censorship and making money in YouTube is kinda hard for smaller channels. There has been lot of new rising video platforms such as Flixxo, BitTube, Viuly and the one we are going to talk about today which is LBRY - operating in its own blockchain under LBRY Credits name.

LBRY Functions in very similar fashion to Flixxo where you download a client to PC/Linux/MAC or Mobile Devices and you upload files into P2P Network - this has clear benefits and issues at the same time, its hard to make something like this get mass adaption and be real competitor for YouTube, i mean it can operate under its own niche and practically it cannot be censored since the videos aren't in a Domain that can be blocked.

It's still in a beta phase and certain features need to be added like comment section for videos. You are able to get LBRY Credits inside the client by doing various tasks like subscribing to channels or watching videos. In this type of instance i kinda prefer more the model of Bittube where you are distributed rewards based on airtime. Ad's aren't either that bad of an idea the way Flixxo does it is kinda genius in a way.

When we compare Flixxo vs. LBRY i see lot more people purchasing videos and viewing them on Flixxo versus LBRY, i'm not sure about the user behaviour yet on LBRY i think it needs to grow more before it can become legit force to reckon with.

There has also been concerns about the project being bit too centralized where few people own majority of the coins. It's not a coin that i'm personally going to invest in or save that much, but i appreciate the income it may bring and i like the fact i can backup my videos somewhere where censorship can't reach.
