Witness update
Good day ,
Just finished updating my witness to 1.28.7 , being at the bottom of the witness list it takes a litle longer to show the actual number but today it finally signed a block and showed up on the https://hive.arcange.eu/witnesses/ list :
I'm running the witness at home on a mini pc with Proxmox ,
The Proxmox Virtual Environment ( https://www.proxmox.com/en/products/proxmox-virtual-environment/overview ) can be used free , i even run it on my NAS the Ugreen DXP8800 plus , as soon as the SSD prices drop again i will upgrade the NVME drives on the NAS so that i can run even more nodes in the future.
On the NAS i created a Truenas container in Proxmox and gave it direct acces to one of the two sata controllers , it runs pretty smooth .
Things run a lot faster then they used to on my old Synology 918+ , probably because the synology was limitted to 8GB of memory and the Truenas now has 40 GB of memory to play with, i could still upgrade the Ugreen DXP8800 plus to 128 GB memory , but at the moment those prices are too high .
I can also still expand with 4 more HDD in the future to make a second ZFS pool.
But the Ugreen for now is future proof it already has 2x 10Gbit ethernet ports , so when my internet provider finally wakes up and upgraded the network to 4 Gbit optic fiber i will be able to use full speed .
Even the minipc that the witness is running on at the moment has 2 x 2.5 Gbit ethernet ports .
So this witness is ready for the future , it has room to grow and no extra costs to make, so atleast i don't need to powerdown to pay for my hosting costs .
I would be a happy witness if you vote for my witness " stress.node "here :
