Viewing my Triptych at the Home Garden

Each Gessoed Wood Panel is 50x70cm
.Imprimatura in black acrylic
.General Underpainting and Decalcomania in acrylic titanium white
.Rendering form with fine hatching in white casein then glazing the rendered forms in oils, then rendering again (but finer), then glazing again, then rendering again (eeeeven finer), then gl.......................
.Final details painted on opaquely

When glazing a painting with multiple glazes, I mix several jars of glazing medium which can simply be differing rations of Oil and Turpentine. For each piece within this triptych the first glaze was a 1:4 ratio of Oil to Turpentine. The second was a 1:3 ratio, the 3rd was 1:2 and the 4th was 1:1, with the final pings being applied with either no medium or simply pure linseed oil as medium.

Although paintings rarely need more than one or two full glazes, it is still necessary to keep the fatness of the painting medium in use relatively fatter than the dried medium beneath it. This will allow a glazy painting (which displays the wonders and magic of optical color mixing) to have a more sound molecular integrity.
