Ancient Sumatra Gravestone (2)
In Southeast Asia, locally made headstones that contain inscriptions using the style (khat) Kufi so far only found a few pairs of headstones. Three pairs of them are in Madinatus-Syummuthrah (Sumatra City). With details, two pairs are in the Secondary Sultanate Complex in Sumatra, and the other pair are in the Tomb of the Tajul Muluk 'Abdul Karim bin Muhammad (d. 833 H / 1430 AD), one of which has the gravestone in the figure below.
In addition to Aceh, several more pairs were found in the center of the old city of Brunei, precisely in the Tomb of the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam.
These two Islamic port cities, which both have tombs with kufic inscriptions, and also share a fairly massive Islamic epigraphic relic, because of the influence of these two Islamic cities in the region, both names have been preserved to refer to the entire island.
