That little bit in-between ....

It's that few weeks in between holidays for me. I had a lovely week off with my daughters last week, Back in work for a few weeks before another couple of weeks with them.

My last post covered day 1 where we headed into Norwich, looked at guitars and age at Wagamana. They both enjoyed themselves.

Day 2 was probably the strangest as it included a trip to the local cemetery. My youngest (13) absolutely loves the cafe there. I guess I know where my wake will be held! We each had a sandwich and a "deluxe" milkshake. Mine was banana based and 13's very much chocolate. Like most places they were far too big so we barely put a dent in them.

Day 3 saw us head out to Taverham Mills which is a local nature reserver. We had a lovely few hours walking around. It was a great excuse to break the proper camera out and try things I've not tried in so long. 15 took her camera along too to get photos for her school work. She's taking GCSE photography next year.

I spent some time playing with shutter speeds.

I never thought I'd have a favorite kind of cow, but it turns out that Highland cattle are rather lovely!

I don't recall what we did on day 4, but day 5 was back to Norwich to visit the castle. It has recently been through a massive refurbishment and is a great place to visit...although not necessarily with teenagers! The castle is amazing but rather limited on castle related things to see. However, there are multiple galleries and exhibitions in addition to the main building. I could easily spend an entire day there. The girls have a limited interest in the non-castle related bits, but a lovely day was still had.

I'm absolutely terrified of heights but they managed to get me up on the roof. A view of Norwich market which is also fantastic! It sits in front of the City Hall. Just towards the back of the market is Coral Bay that does the most amazing curried goat!

The weekend after was a quiet one and I found time to play my guitar. I've a small micro-PC in my room an picked up a cheap interface and some headphones. They enable me to play and record without interrupting the girls too much. I've very much enjoyed the past few weeks of "noodling". Slowly but surely I'm remembering how to record again and have found being creative a little more fun.

My first week back has been interesting as it seems I'll be moving jobs. Still within the same place but doing the same sort of thing but with a formal position. I've been on secondment for 95% of the time I've worked there. Hopefully that all gets formalised this week so I can return into an actual, factual role after my next little break.
