The Power of Gratitude: Practicing Gratitude Daily
Over a week ago, on the Hive Learners discord server, during one of our Monday hangouts, we had a discussion about gratitude and its importance in our daily lives. I will be answering some of the questions asked in the channel while at the same time sharing my thoughts on the topic.
The Importance of Gratitude In our Daily Life
Thankfully, I found a GIF that explains what gratitude should be. It should be part of our attitude; a significant part of us should learn to be grateful for everything we have and for who we are. When being grateful becomes part of us, we recognise the things that we have and are free from living an envious life. It tells the universe that we appreciate what we have and are ready to appreciate more than it will give to us.
So let us move to the questions asked:
What is something you are grateful for today?
I am very grateful for the life that I have, for the friends that I have made, and for all the knowledge, goals, and achievements I have made this year. This year alone, I did my induction, then my birthday, and then my convocation. I had even travelled to a state I had not been before in this country to support a friend and travelled back safely. It was over a 7-hour journey ride, and a lot of people have embarked on journeys that are way shorter but lost their lives on the way, but here I am.
If there is anything for which I should be grateful, then it should be the preservation of my life.
How does gratitude make you feel in tough times?
During tough times, gratitude helps me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It helps me to remember past times when I was in situations that I found difficult and tough but yet I survived. Gratitude reminds me that I am a survival, and that gives me hope during tough times.
This gives me a new light to my tough situations, and I see them as "passing their time," and it would also pass.
How do you show gratitude to others?
I am the kind of person who, when someone does something for me, I will always thank them for it as long as I can remember. I show my appreciation and also even do my best to be of help back to the person when in need. I show my gratitude by thanking the person and also giving back at the point of need.
What's one habit you can use to practice gratitude daily?
I can't vividly remember how I answered this question during the hangout. To answer this now, I will say how I practice gratitude every day is starting my day with gratitude, recognising that it was an opportunity to see a new day, seeing that the new day brings an opportunity to build my future, to see how far I have come. This gives the aura of gratitude into my new day.
So here are all the questions answered. If you want to partake in the hangouts, you can freely do that. We hold the hangouts at 5pm WAT every Monday. So feel free to join us anytime on the Hive Learners Discord server.
