Building A Splinterlands Deck (starting from zero)

I am starting a series of posts called Building A Splinterlands Deck. Since this is my inaugural post, I am starting from zero - zero owned cards, zero card value, and zero dollars invested.

I will be sharing my adventures of building my splintersage@splintersage from the ground up.

All I have (as of right now) are the 'phantom' cards that were provided in my Splinterlands upgraded account.

Check out splintersage.teachable.com to learn more about the Splinterlands focused course(s) I have created!!!

Potential Sources of Income

I will use to the following income streams to grow my account/deck of cards:

  • earnings from playing Splinterlands
    • DEC, CREDITS, REWARD CARDS, PACKS, etc.
  • earnings from HIVE posts
    • liquid HDB will be converted to CREDITS
  • affiliate earnings
    • this post contains affiliate links - any affiliate earnings paid out as CREDITS will be used to grow this account

Current Status

I was able to advance to Bronze III without any upgrades to my deck. I will not be able to advance to Bronze II until I have at least 1,000 Power. I will not be able to earn DEC in Loot Chests until I reach Bronze II.

Actual Earnings

I have completed two daily quests which resulted in being able to open one Loot Chest per day. I received the following:

  • 650 CREDITS - this was a pleasant surprise - a player can earn anywhere between 1 - 37,500 Credits per reward chest source
  • 1 alchemy potion - only beneficial if I purchase a pack or receive a pack as a reward

Observations

For low mana battles (22 mana and below), the Dragon Summoner plus the Death Splinter seemed to be almost impossible to beat.

This combination of cards was great at earning rating points. I will definitely be excited when I see a daily quest for the Death Splinter.

Next Steps

I need to use the CREDITS I earned to purchase cards that will help me win battles while increasing my power score.

Although I would prefer to focus on buying Summoners, I believe the better option is to buy low cost rare Reward cards. The cost to power ratio for these cards is ideal for working towards the power goal of 1,000.

At present, I plan to rent higher level Summoners as the need arises.

I have my eyes on the following cards for my first purchase.
