Strange magpie

I came to you again with a bird!

We saw a magpie in a clearing near a quarry in the park. She looked carefully for something in the grass.

We stood far away and didn't bother her. Taking out my telephoto camera, I tried to take a photo. In the lens, I noticed that something was wrong with the magpie - the feathers on the neck stick out unusually. I wanted to take pictures of it from different angles, but this wretch was spinning with its back in front of me, moving farther and farther into the bushes.

I cautiously walked a couple of meters, the bird galloped too far. But the magpie categorically did not like it and she rushed to the other side of the quarry. From there, my camera couldn't take pictures.

At home, enlarging the photo, I realized why the magpie seemed strange. She has no feathers on her neck or something is crushing them. This makes the neck seem unnaturally long, the head looks alien, as if attached to the body of another bird.

I really hope that everything is in order with the bird, and I lost its plumage in a fair battle for prey. In any case, her flight characteristics are normal.
