Scribbling Technique (pen drawing)
Scribbling technique is one of the underestimated technique of shading. Scribbling technique seems easy but it is not that easy to control. Scribbling technique gives better results on rough surfaces like embossed needle point , Strathmore Bristol paper rough , centura card e.t.c. .
There are several methods of shading which includes: Hatching, cross hatching, Dottilism , scribbling, Blurring. During my journey while learning pen art , I tried cross hatching it was really hard to comprehend, I tried cross hatching and hatching for a while till I decided to give scribbling a try. I tried scribbling of several papers but I wasn't getting what I wanted till I used embossed needle point. My shades impoved with practice. I stayed hours drawing each day. Sometimes I spend my whole day drawing. Even till today I draw for like 6 hours each day. Drawing is passion , it also requires practice perseverance and patient.
Materials: : I used just a Ball point Pen and an embossed needle point paper
Process: I first sketched the figure , after that I used my ball point pen to make shades on the surface of the paper. I started shading the work from the eyes.
