Macrolepiota Inter Hedera Helix
A Parasol Mushroom within Common Ivy
Everything sounds much more fancy in Latin.
I found this guy on my walk yesterday and I've been meaning to do a dedicated #FungiFriday post for a while. So, today before lunch, I took the old DSLR out of the closet and walked back there to take a few pictures so that I can finally do this.
Here's "My contribution to #FungiFriday by @ewkaw"
A macrolepiota, "Riesenschirmling" as we say in German, is a big edible parasol mushroom that can grow to quite impressive sizes. They usually appear in groups, so it's quite curious to find this solitary specimen growing right here on a bed of beautiful green ivy.
