The Yoroi Crypto Wallet will be Turned into a Meta Mask for the Cardano ecosystem

The Emurgo project has announced its intention to turn the Yoroi wallet into a kind of MetaMask, but for the Cardano ecosystem. This statement coincided with the launch of the Alonzo Purple update, which is the final stage of testing before the launch of smart contracts.

MetaMask allows users to manage account keys, store, send and receive Ethereum-based tokens, and connect to dApps as a browser extension.

As stated in Emurgo, MetaMask is known as a light crypto wallet. This means that it does not archive the network registry, but instead only tracks the balance of assets on the wallet address.

For this reason, users can quickly access the relevant blockchains from any device. This makes it universal and easy to make transactions. At the same time, this wallet, which is not associated with storage, allows you to store a private key.

Since its launch in 2016, MetaMask has become an important factor in the success of the Ethereum ecosystem. The Emurgo team believes that if Cardano wants to repeat this success, the project must have a viable alternative.

Now the Cardano blockchain project has two own wallets. Daedalus is a full-fledged wallet that stores the entire Cardano registry. Because of this, it may take several minutes to open it. If you haven't logged in for a while, it will take even longer.

During the Byron era, the problem was even more acute, since Daedalus opened for hours, even with sufficient computing power and broadband Internet.

Yoroi, like MetaMask, is a lightweight wallet that works through a browser extension.

Emurgo hopes that Yoroi will repeat the role of MetaMask in the Ethereum ecosystem, but only for Cardano. The company also mentioned the deployment of the DApp Connector, which will use the functionality of Cardano smart contracts.

For the first time, the creation of the DApp Connector was announced in July, this solution is positioned as a bridge to unlock the potential of smart contracts on Cardano.

Perhaps, over time, Cardano will really be able to compete with Ethereum on an equal footing.
