কোকিল ছানার মাতা
নাচে তাথৈ তাতা;
ডিম পেরেছে বাসায়
কাকে দিয়েছে তা।
অবুঝ বোকা কাকটা
যেই দিছে ফাঁকটা;
চতুর কোকিল তাতে
ডিম পেড়েছে দুইটা।
পরম যতন করে
তা’-এ ডিমের পরে
ফুটায় দুইটি ছানা
কাকের ছোট্ট ঘরে।
নিজের ছানার মতো
খাবার দিলো ততো
আদর সোহাগ করে
মায়ের ছিল যতো।
এক দিন সেই কাকে
ছানা দুইটি ডাকে
কথা কেন কয় না
ডাকে না-তো মাকে।
মায়ে বলে কা-কা
ছানা বলে পিক-পিক
জন্ম নিলো পিকের ছা
আসলেই ঠিক-ঠিক।
রেগে-মেগে কাক বলে
ওরে পিক নিলি ছলে;
আয় ছানা আয় কাছে
টিপে ধরি তোর গলে।
ফিক-ফিক হেসে হেসে
ছানা বলে গেল শেষে
দেখা হবে আরেক দিন
কোকিলের মা বেশে।
