Ground Coffee House - My First Cup
Thank you to Cinnamon Cup Coffee for this community which has encouraged me to get out and have a cup of coffee today. This has been a long time coming.
I went to Ground Coffee House in Hilton, Kwa Zulu-Natal, South Africa which @roekeya told me about the other day. The vibe with people coming in and out was so refreshing to see. How did it take me so long to find out where people meet in the mornings?
The staff who were serving behind the counter had a good knowledge base of where the coffee beans were grown and how they should taste which reminds me of how a Wine Connoisseur would be able to describe different wines from around the world with his/her knowledge base.
This was a first for me to ever have this sort of experience with coffee which inevitably has me wanting to learn more.
The list of what to order was quite extensive so I decided to start at the top with a Cappuccino. Over time, I will post about each cup that I taste and share my experience with you.
For those outside of South Africa you will see Rooibos on the list, this is a tea that is grown here and if you ever get a chance to drink it, I highly recommend it.
While I was waiting for my coffee I thought I would share with you what else is in the coffee shop, starting with the display inside.
Ground Coffee House has their own branded packaging of coffee that is imported into South Africa.
Below are two of the options to purchase to enjoy at home, Muyinga from Burundi and Kawa Kabuya from the DRC, the latter being the bean I chose to drink this morning.
They also sell a variety of plungers, brewers and grinders in the coffee shop as well as reusable coffee cups which they proudly to share on their website, I love places that strive towards being more environmentally friendly.
The display wall outside has a selection of succulents, low maintenance plants which I love to have in my house too.
My coffee was ready after about five minutes, presented in this elegant, shiny black crockery
and true to their word, the coffee was not overpowering in flavour. I personally found the cup to be quite smooth to drink.
Coffee is something I generally only drink when I am away from the house and my feeling is that I will be doing this more regularly to be able to learn more about the different beans and share it with you.
Thank you @millycf1976 for this community and the encouragement in your message the other day to post this.
Have a wonderful day everyone and enjoy your beverages.
