List of DBuzz frontend issues (as of January 3, 2025)

This post lists down DBuzz frontend issues found by savvyplayer@savvyplayer (either directly, or indirectly through other DBuzz users' reports) as of January 3, 2025 (UTC). Since the DBuzz dapps' development slowed down and is only mainly focused on keeping the DBuzz microblogging platform up, publishing a list of updated feature suggestions is postponed indefinitely.

The unresolved issues listed on the DBuzz Chat's Bug Reports channel are also included on the list below. The issues on the DBuzz Trello board are no longer checked because they haven't been updated for more than 6 months.

This post has 13 listed issues and serves as an update to the previous post 5 months ago. The issues found on earlier dates that are on the list below are still unresolved at the time of this post.

Notable changes

  1. Combined three issues related to Bookmarks (formerly Pockets) into one. The previous three issues are "all instances of the name Pockets not yet renamed to Bookmarks", "trying to add a post or comment that is already on all of the user's Bookmarks shows a form that still asks the user which Bookmark category to put the content into", and "Bookmarking a deleted post or comment still succeeds", which are then combined into "The Bookmark feature is totally broken".
  2. Decreased the text size of the dates on the list regarding when an issue was first reported, and inserted the number of years that have passed since the issue remained unresolved for those issues that are already more than a year old.
  3. Added link to source code of the DBuzz microblogging client for people who want to contribute to the code and/or have their own instance.
  4. Made minor changes to the Mentions section to reflect the reorganization of the DBuzz team.

Frontend issues

The issues listed have been found on the Production version of the DBuzz frontend using both the desktop and mobile versions of Brave Browser on default settings.

#ProblemReported ByScreenshot (if available)
1Trying to undo (by either pressing CTRL+Z or right-clicking then clicking Undo on desktop, or long-pressing then pressing Undo on mobile) has no effect on the post/comment editor after inserting an emoji using the built-in emoji picker.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
October 19, 2021 (more than 3 years)
2Trying to edit a post or comment that has already been deleted (which is possible using another Hive frontend) incorrectly shows a successful edit instead of telling that the buzz was already deleted.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
October 24, 2021 (more than 3 years)
3Trying to login with posting key using an invalid username does not go through without showing any error message.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
July 31, 2024
4Trying to login using a valid Hive username but with an incorrect posting key does not go through without showing any error message.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
July 31, 2024
5If already logged in, trying to add a new Hive account with a valid username but incorrect posting key redirects to the homepage and shows that the user is logged out instead of showing an incorrect posting key message. This does not log out any existing account that is currently logged in. A page refresh returns the last Hive account logged in.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
October 4, 2022 (more than 2 years)
(just the DBuzz homepage)
6If the "Show Video Embeds" setting is disabled, it also hides images and link previews. That is regardless of whether the "Show Images" and "Show Link Previews" are enabled or not.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
July 26, 2023 (more than a year)
(just a typical feed on DBuzz without images, link previews, and video embeds)
7The mobile version of the DBuzz frontend does not show the "Settings & Support" -> "Settings" menu on the "More" panel. This makes the settings panel (where image/video embeds, link previews, NSFW post visibility, and Hive API nodes can be toggled) inaccessible on mobile devices unless the mobile web browser can be configured to show DBuzz in desktop mode.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
July 31, 2024
8The "DEX" link under the "More" -> "Professional Tools" menu leads to a DNS address that cannot be found.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
July 31, 2024
(browser warning showing "site cannot be reached")
9The "Leaderboard" link under the "More" -> "Professional Tools" menu leads to a page under construction.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
July 31, 2024
10Logging out of DBuzz always shows the Vote for DBuzz - Proposal #2 notice even if the said Hive Proposal has already expired. That's even if the DBuzz account that was logged out already voted for the said Hive Proposal. The button for voting to the expired proposal leads to https://vote.d.buzz/.chrisrice@chrisrice
July 15, 2024
11Checking for updates show ALREADY UPDATE-TO DATE. The text should be ALREADY UP-TO-DATE.savvyplayer@savvyplayer
July 31, 2024
12Profile pictures with transparent background are displayed improperly. The same image, duplicated with one larger than the other, overlaps itself. Examples are profile pictures from https://d.buzz/@luvshares and https://d.buzz/@hivebits.crrdlx@crrdlx
March 10, 2024
13The Bookmark (formerly Pocket) feature is totally broken. Trying to add any post or comment to a Bookmark folder doesn't finish. Bookmarks linking to deleted posts and comments on Hive cannot be removed. Many "Pocket" words haven't been changed to "Bookmarks" yet. Clicking on the Menu on a buzz that is already added to all Bookmark categories of the user still shows "Add to Pocket".savvyplayer@savvyplayer

The DBuzz frontend issues that have already been fixed or resolved before this post are simply removed from the list above.

For people with dev knowledge and wish to help improve the DBuzz source code and/or launch their own instance of DBuzz, the source code of the DBuzz microblogging frontend can be found here.
