If you're a parent, will you allow your children 12 years old and below to have a social media account?

My oldest child is just 9 years old. At their early age my children already have their own gadgets, but they are not into social media yet. They just love to play games and it's really hard to stop them from doing it. Regards to social media I know time will come and my children will surely create their own account. Having a social media account has a lot benefits, but also a lot of dangers. Social media sites made the communications faster and easier, which could also lead to danger if you'll not be able to monitor your children. It could also make them expose to dirty pictures and videos. So it's also best to turn on your browser's filter.

Here in the Philippines, there's already a lot of crimes that happened for the past years that started from social media communication. Most of them are rape cases, murder, suicide that started from cyber bullying and a lot more.  Those crimes are possibly still happening and sadly most victims are teenagers. Parents could play a role to lessen or possibly stop it from happening if they will guide their children. So if you can't stop your children on using social media sites, just simply create your own account, be one of their friends, ask them who their friends are, monitor them, and let them know the dangers so they are aware. 

Personally, I will prevent my children on using social media sites. But if the time comes that I can no longer control them to create their own account then I will just let them and guide them as well.
