My bells

What only people do not collect! The collection of the bells of our family cannot be called a collection - there are not so many of them. But we could not get past such unique bells, we bought and gave us something.

Most of them are souvenir samples. But we also have real Valdai rebellious bells, which in former times "worked" - hung on a horse carriage arc.

Here is this handsome man - made in the famous workshop of the Troshin brothers. Approximately 1860-70 years.

Previously, the Valdai bells were the most popular; they also served as alarm bells when riding horses and scared away wild animals on the forest road, and brightened the ride to travelers.

The alloy was mostly mixed, with the addition of copper. Sometimes rich people made bells on their teams and asked craftsmen to add silver to metal. The amount of silver was specified and given to the master separately.

Probably, from silver the bell sang more gently.

And modern ceramic souvenir bells, of which there are many — they also emit a gentle, melodious ring — each has its own “voice”.
