La Petatera during its construction

Colima, Mexico, is home to what is considered the largest piece of craftsmanship in the world, located in the municipality of Villa Alvarez. It is a National Artistic Monument and part of Mexico's Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is a bullring made of a type of carpet woven from palm leaves, known as petate, hence the name of this bullring: La Petatera.
Every December, construction begins on this bullring so that it will be ready for the Villa de Alvarez charro bullfighting festivals in February.
Once these festivals are over, La Petatera remains in place and is then used for parties or concerts until it is time to dismantle everything and wait until the following December.
These photos, taken with a drone, do not reflect the magnitude of the bullring, which has a capacity of more than 6,000 people.
These photos were taken when the work was not yet finished.
