There might be a problem with looking for the Next Big Thing

With the way things are moving currently in the world, we have kept ourselves at the pace of what is going to happen next, or what is the next big thing for me? It is quite normal to ask this kind of question to oneself, especially when reevaluating one's life and where you have gotten to at a point in life. I feel all of us as human beings have a lot in common more than we think, but the thing that still remains are we more focused on what happens next for us simply because we are governed by the need to compare ourselves with others. This can be really bad and dangerous to the fundamental growth of the person. The drive to find the next thing, the next groundbreaking investment, something big, can be a problem because it could take our eyes off what matters, and we do not spend more time appreciating it.

The need to be ambitious can be a good boost in energy to achieve incredible things. It is more like not settling down with mediocrity, but rather you push yourself to get more, therefore you become a goal getter. Well, here is another thing you have to think about as well. Have you spent some time appreciating what you have or at least how far you have come? I used to be obsessed with where I wanted to be, which in turn got my mind clouded with what I had to do or at least how I could get there. The idea of looking for the next big thing is quite common in the world of finance, especially when one is searching for what financial asset will bring a 100x return. A 100x return is quite extraordinary, but a hunt for such a return can get a person's eye off the power of focusing on what they already have and growing from there. This is where they undervalue what they have, or they do not see any value in it at all.

Over time, it does not become a thing where ambition is the problem because ambition can foster growth and the zeal to push out the better version of the person through the collection of hard work and persistence. Then the problem I am relating to is when ambition is present without gratitude. If you keep being ambitious without being grateful, then there will be a problem of not valuing what you already have. There are stages in life as we move on day by day, but what makes it worth living is the understanding that we are not where we were previously. Although we are not where we want to be yet, we should not forget that it could be all worse and we could get to be somewhere worse.

It could be in any aspect of life, in business, we appreciate the milestones we have covered, in our day-to-day life, it could be appreciating the hurdles we have overcome, or no matter how small it may be. With a lot going on in the world, it has made me come to the realization that it is super easy to beat ourselves up when we have not accomplished a lot at a certain time. Let us not forget to appreciate the little or big things as well, it could be a little milestone achievement, or it could be the people we have in our lives.
