The Qur'an claims to be a complete revelation from the creator of the heavens and the earth. Traditionalist Islam claims that the text of the Qur'an was compiled after the prophet by Uthman into a 'recension' which was then agreed upon.
The Qur'an refutes this claim. It says that it was written down at the time of the revelation. It regards itself as a perfect book; protected and complete.
