If I could stand among you
and speak freely
I would say
not a vaccine
not safe
not effective

I dare not say
turbo cancers
excess mortality
unexpected or suddenly

Remember how the BBC tallied
day by day accumulating faces
impressing on us how serious this was
Government convening like a war council
the NHS on high alert

We were told to stay home to flatten the curve
with social distancing rules and made to wear masks

I know you lived through this
same as I, but let me ask you
when did trust The Science
become synonymous with science?

This was a robbery, a con job, a fraud
reckless experimentation
an authoritarian demonstration
a post-mortem cover up
a botch up, a sham, a facade

So turn a blind eye
easier than to try
to save a world
that seems destined to die
