In view of the declaration of 'Women's Decade' in 1976-1985 in the first World Woman Conference held in Mexico (1975), National Women Organization was established on 17th February, 1976 for the overall development of women and the changing of their status as a reflection of the government's national and international commitments for women's development. . In order to make the organization's activities more fruitful and strengthened, the National Women Organization was formed in 1991 as a statutory body in the Act 9 of 1991. Currently, the activities of the organization of 64 districts and 50 upazilas are being conducted.
