Daily prompt : what’s in that chest?

Inside my chest, a snake lies coiled, sinking its fangs into my heart and letting its venom flow through all my blood. A snake that swallows and destroys sounds and words before they can find their way to my mouth.

A crow wants to tear open my chest. My chest has become a target for death. My heart beats in its struggle to live. It struggles, and the venom spreads further. Why has everything become so heavy and dark? Can my heart forgive and heal?

My eyes are red and bloodshot, yet no tears fall. The wind comes, and a dusty, hazy existence moves before me. Trapped within myself and estranged from the world outside. I have neither the strength to stand nor to go on.

The snake knows all the secrets. My truth has been suffocated in the assault of the wind, yet a wounded heart still carries the seconds forward. It passes them by, it passes life by. Where has my familiar world gone?

A breeze blows, and it is a balm for my scorched soul. I am searching for a remedy to place upon my burned chest.
