For a Loved One

We arrived that first day, proud of work and success along the way
Joy had filled our spirits, as did stresses and dismay
Great friendships we had made, and though our energy did fade
We found the time for fun and made it out the Brooklyn way

We held on to our bonds and memories we made more
But in all the chaos, one stood out, resonated our core
But we were on a mission to grow ourselves to our peak
And whilst we sought some alcohol, accolades too did we seek

While we wile away our time in games and in charades
Disaster struck, the hair did suck, our essence soon did fade
Searching for some peace, we remembered our safe space
Tightly woven spirits where "home" was more than a place

Strength did not fail, our fondness did prevail
And in the midst of all that strife, our bond did set sail

Only happiness remained, more memories became
On this journey together, things would no longer be the same
Proudly now, we welcome you to witness as we say
