Sci-Fi Weapon Designs [ 2d game concept art ]

Long time no see!
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with a new approach to designing sci-fi concepts. Coming up with fresh visual ideas for fantasy or sci-fi worlds can be challenging, and I often find myself spending more time thinking about what to draw than actually drawing.

This new method helps me jump straight into the process. I begin with random brush strokes— sometimes with symmetry enabled, sometimes without. Using a soft brush with pressure-based opacity, I create loose, abstract shapes. Then I step back for a moment, study the forms, and decide what they could become.

From there, I do a first refinement pass, following the shapes and defining a general idea. After that, I clean things up with a bit more thought toward structure and function, while still keeping it firmly in the realm of fiction. I’m not trying to design a realistic, working weapon—the goal is simply to explore the unknown and discover cool designs born from randomness.

It’s been a refreshing way to spark creativity and generate new ideas quickly.
