Moshi, Tanzania – A Curious Encounter on a Quiet Street

Yesterday, I was wandering through the streets of Moshi, letting curiosity guide my steps. The town has a rhythm of its own—the chatter of street vendors and the hum of passing cars. Sometimes, the best stories are found not in the obvious sights, but in the quiet corners where people rarely pause.

I decided to take a little shortcut through a quiet parking lot. At first, it seemed ordinary—just another stretch of asphalt between buildings. But then my eyes landed on a lone car parked in the middle, right in front of the bus station office. Something about it felt unusual.

And there it was: a homemade tire lock, made of thorns and tied tightly around the tire with a thin chain. It looked rough, improvised, and yet strangely purposeful—someone had gone to a lot of trouble to protect this car. I paused, curious. Who had made it, and why?

In that moment, I realized how often the smallest details can transform an ordinary stroll into a story worth noticing.
