Fatih, Istanbul
Inside of Sofia.
The German fountain
I had to take the tram over the bridge to Fatih. Fatih is the center of Istanbul that used to be Constantinople and it is very beautiful and rich of historical things. There are the Mosques, the one was once a church and was built in the year 537 A.D.. This is Hagia Sophia and she was a Mosque from 1453 till 1935 and since 2020.
Right before I came the first time to Istanbul she became a Mosque again. Till today you can see inside of her many christian signs and crosses.
Then you have some polars from the Roman empire in Fatih and the markets that bring you oriental feelings.
The German fountain was a gift from the German Kaiser to the Sultan. He enjoyed his stay in Istanbul so much, that he gave this fountain to the Sultan.
