The nature of power, how it always consolidates and requires a countervailing power to push back if there is to be stability, and if humanity is to co-exist long in to the future human power needs to exist within an architecture that results a natural equilibrium through the voluntary decisions of citizens living under powers competing for their favour. The Republic of Kingsilver ‘cyberstate’ will allow citizens to create their own power jurisdictions called city-states, but citizens and businesses will be free to relocate at the click of a button should the power of any city state be abused.
