Is this a partnership?

Before Alice got married, her mother sat her down and explained all the dynamics of marriage, the responsibilities, the challenges, and the beauty of it. Alice listened with excitement, but what fascinated her the most was the idea of partnership. The thought that she and her husband would work hand in hand, supporting each other and sharing burdens, made marriage seem enjoyable and comforting.
With that in mind, when Linus asked for her hand in marriage, she didn’t hesitate for long before saying yes. Soon, they got married, and Alice stepped into what she believed would be a life of shared efforts and mutual support.

However, reality turned out differently.
The man she married was hardly there for her. He didn’t support her in the things she struggled with, and most times, he made decisions without even asking for her opinion. The closeness and teamwork she had imagined were little, not as she thought.

At first, Alice tried to overlook it. She told herself things would improve. But as time went on, the feeling only grew stronger.
One day, after sitting quietly and reflecting on everything, a question formed in her heart: Is this really a partnership? This was not what mother had described. This was not what she had hoped for.

She approached her husband, not with anger, but with honesty. She spoke about her expectations, her disappointments, and the kind of marriage she had hoped to build with him. For the first time, she allowed her voice to be heard. She then waited patiently for things to change.
