Hive Open Mic Week #256 "R.E.M. - Carnival Of Sorts (Boxcars)" (cover) by @ricosirait

Hi guys, nice to meet you again. This week I'm sure we're all doing well, even though there are many problems we have to face because it's part of life. This time the theme of the Hive open mic is very challenging, which is "Carnival". Actually it's a bit difficult to decide which song I'm going to choose, but my choice fell on one of the legendary songs that has been covered quite a lot by big punk rock bands.

To enter this week's competition, I chose a song called "Carnival of Sorts (Boxcars)" this song comes from the American alternative rock band, R.E.M.. The song was released on their debut EP, Chronic Town (1982).

The song features Peter Buck's jangly guitar, Michael Stipe's distinctive cryptic vocals, and an energetic rhythm driven by Mike Mills' bass and Bill Berry's drums. Lyrically, the song is somewhat abstract, like many of R.E.M.'s early songs, but seems to describe a mysterious journey or surreal experience, with references to "boxcars", which can symbolize travel or escape.

The song is one of the early examples of the post-punk and college rock styles that would later become R.E.M.'s trademark and influential in the development of alternative music in the 80s and 90s. (source google)
